Reflecting on 2024: A year of creativity

As we move into 2025, I’m taking a moment to reflect on my artistic journey in 2024. But first, to everyone who supported me as an artist last year, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Whether you bought an art print or other product, shared my work, supported me at an event, or simply left me a kind comment on social media, you’ve made 2024 so much brighter.

Highlights of 2024

Incognito Art Show

One of the most exciting moments of the year was participating in the Incognito Art Show for the very first time. It was such a thrill to exhibit my work alongside incredibly talented artists like Ben Quilty and Julia Gutman. This unique event showcased artworks anonymously, encouraging people to buy pieces they love without focusing on the artist's fame. Being part of something so special and community-focused was a truly rewarding experience.

For the Incognito Art Show, I completed three artworks using watercolour and gold metal leaf, this style was a bit different from my usual stippling technique. Experimenting with metal leaf was a bit challenging but I enjoyed it so much that I decided to buy 24k gold leaf to incorporate into my future artworks.

The Firstdraft Auction

Another highlight was participating in the Firstdraft Auction for the third time. It’s always fun connecting with fellow artists and art lovers at Firstdraft. Despite the rain forcing everyone to rush inside, the energy at the auction event was incredible. I sold my original artwork Zebra Stripes to an anonymous bidder, and I hope it has found a wonderful home.

“Jeremiah and Friends” Series

I completed two new stippling artworks this year: Jeremiah the Bullfrog and Tracey the Mouse. These pieces are part of my series “Jeremiah and Friends,” inspired by the song "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night. You can read more about the inspiration behind this series in my blog post, “Jeremiah the Bullfrog Artwork.” I’m keen to expand this series with more characters in 2025.

Golden Budgie

The third artwork I completed in 2024, Golden Budgie, holds a special place in my heart. Inspired by my Pop’s love and care for his two little budgies, this piece is my first-ever limited-edition artwork. With only 30 hand-embellished prints available, each adorned with 24k gold, Golden Budgie adds a touch of luxury to my collection.

2025 Calendar

This year also marked the creation of my very first calendar! My 2025 calendar features 12 of my favourite artworks, including the January piece, Blue Butterflies. This dreamy portrait, adorned with flowers and butterflies, was one of the first artworks I completed using the stippling technique. Seeing the calendar come to life and sharing it with all of you has been a truly rewarding experience.

Looking Ahead

What’s next? More art, more experiments, and hopefully more growth! In 2025, I plan to dedicate more time to creating and exploring new techniques. I also aim to get more involved in the artistic community, connecting with fellow creators and art lovers.

Here’s to another year of creating, connecting, and chasing dreams. Let’s make 2025 the best one yet!
