The story behind my August mini artwork

The story behind my August mini artwork

My mini artwork for August is called New Day, it is a watercolor landscape of mountains, painted as a tribute to the challenges I have been facing as I work towards becoming a full-time artist, and the feeling of hope that everything will work out in the end.

The meaning behind my New Day artwork

In New Day, the hills in the foreground are painted in deep, moody tones of blue and black as a representation of the obstacles and feelings of uncertainty that I have been experiencing. Working towards becoming a full-time artist hasn’t been easy. I have experienced many moments of self-doubt, and this combined with financial strain has sometimes made the journey feel as impossible as climbing vast mountains (which, considering I’m a wheelchair user… is a little tricky. Haha).

But as your eye moves toward the horizon, the landscape softens. The distant mountains glow with warm shades of orange, and above them, the sky is a soft, gentle pink. These lighter colours are a reminder to myself that beyond the struggle, there is light. There is hope that my journey as a full-time artist will lead somewhere beautiful, even if I can’t yet see exactly where that is.

This month my art prints will be hand-embellished with 24k Gold

In the month of August I'm doing something extra special, each print of New Day sold through my Mini Art Print Club will be hand-embellished with 24k gold, placed carefully to link the dark foreground to the glowing orange hills. I think of it as a gold thread of hope, something delicate but strong that ties the present to a moment in the future where they days are brighter and life feels lighter.

New Day is about acknowledging that although I'm feeling scared and uncertain now, I still believe that something good is coming.

Why my Mini Art Print Club means so much

Creating and sharing these little artworks each month has given me structure, motivation, and a sense of connection. When someone chooses to support my journey by signing up for my Mini Art Print Club it reminds me that I’m not doing this alone. Each time someone joins it feels like a they are saying, “I believe in you” and right now, that support means more to me than I can say.

The last few months have taught me that becoming a full-time artist isn’t just about creating beautiful art. I have been learning how to run a business, how to market myself, how to budget, and how to keep going even when I'm not sure if it’s all going to work out. There have been moments that have tested me, like last week when I need to buy a new professional printer even though I was not sure I can justify the cost. Every time something like that happens, I question whether I can really do this… and then someone buys one of my artworks or messages to say they love my art, and I feel that gold thread of hope again.
