My new little birds series, created with stippling and watercolour

There is something special about birds, they are so small and delicate, and they bring so much joy into the world around us.

My newest art series celebrates these little moments of joy through a collection of bird artworks created using my signature stippling technique, combined with soft green watercolour backgrounds.

Over the coming months, I’ll be creating a series of 3 little bird designs, each one capturing the unique personality and charm of a different bird.

How I will be creating each little bird

Each artwork begins with thousands of tiny dots, carefully placed one by one to create the bird shape and details. Stippling is a slow and mindful drawing technique that allows me to build up the shape and feathers gradually.

I love the patience involved in this process. There is something magical about watching a blank page slowly transform into a detailed bird portrait, one dot at a time.

I will then add a soft green watercolour background to each piece, creating an abstract nature-inspired design that allows you bring a tiny piece of the outdoors into your home.

The first bird: The Blue Tit

The first artwork in this little bird series features a Blue Tit, a tiny bird known for its curious nature, and energetic personality.

Blue Tits are a favourite among many bird lovers because they bring so much life to gardens and outdoor spaces. Despite their small size, they are full of energy, often seen exploring, fluttering between branches, and investigating their surroundings.

I wanted to capture that playful curiosity in this artwork, the feeling of pausing for a moment to appreciate the small creatures that share our world.

Why I love creating bird art

Birds have always fascinated me because they represent so many beautiful ideas: freedom, resilience, connection, and the simple joy of observing nature.

Creating bird drawings allows me to slow down and appreciate details in nature that are often overlooked, for example the tiny patterns in feathers.

My goal with this series is to create a series of artworks that brings a little bit of the outside world into everyday spaces.
